Going Super in Minnesota!
General Engineering Company’s structural team was enlisted for their expertise on Mackenthun’s Fine Foods grocery store in Minnetrista, MN, for an expansive 48,000-square-foot commercial building, housing a full-service supermarket with various offerings. In their role for this new build, the team meticulously planned and implemented every truss and structural element. Notably, a distinctive feature of this project was the area above the office mezzanine. Here, one of the concrete masonry walls was uniquely and specially designed not to extend to the roof bearing, instead incorporating structural steel framing. This framing played a vital role in bearing the downward forces on the structure, as well as the forces that push and pull horizontally on the building. This distinctive design was created at the owner’s request to achieve the desired aesthetic appearance.
