The Wisconsin Hotel
Revamping Tradition
Showcasing Wisconsin’s Farming Heritage in the Wisconsin Dells
Sometimes it’s out with the old and in with the new! General Engineering Company (GEC) was thrilled to assist the Waterman Family and Associates with The Wisconsin Hotel project, renovating and transforming the existing Wintergreen Hotel in the Wisconsin Dells.
This renovation involved creating new site designs for the hotel and a stand-alone restaurant. The restaurant will feature a four-story silo bar, complete with an open-air rooftop bar offering views of the area, including part of Mirror Lake State Park.
A unique aspect of this project was the renovation and reconfiguration of the existing parking lot. Part of the existing building was also removed to make space for an addition, which includes more room for a larger kitchen cooler, requiring the removal and reconstruction of an existing boulder retaining wall.
For guests not staying at the hotel but looking to dine at the new restaurant, Farmer in the Dells, GEC designed a new parking lot with a sidewalk leading directly to the establishment. This restaurant will be a fantastic addition for both locals and visitors, featuring seasonal ingredients that will be sourced from local farms.
The Wisconsin Hotel will also celebrate Wisconsin’s heritage with a design inspired by classic Wisconsin barns. The renovated hotel will offer 111 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, and a corporate/wedding event space accommodating up to 300 guests.
This ambitious renovation project is more than just an upgrade; it’s a celebration of Wisconsin’s rich heritage and farming history and a commitment to enhancing the local community. Both The Wisconsin Hotel and Farmer in the Dells restaurant will offer unique experiences that blend tradition with modern amenities, creating an atmosphere that honors the past while embracing the future.
