GEC Employees Lend a Hand to Habitat for Humanity

Community Involvement

WYOCENA, WI—On Saturday, July 7, General Engineering Company (GEC) employees and their families, along with other volunteers, offered a hand to Habitat for Humanity in the Village of Wyocena.

Despite the warm temperatures on Saturday, General Engineering Company employees and volunteers had a house prepped for roof trusses, wall sheathing, and framing on a garage in no time. In only a few short weeks, the house will be complete with electrical, plumbing, interior and exterior finish, and landscaping.

“It is just something I do. It’s a good cause that gets people into homes that otherwise couldn’t get one,” says Chris Krinke, GEC employee and Habitat for Humanity Volunteer. Krinke has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for over 17 years and states, “Volunteers are always welcome, regardless of their building knowledge or skill set.”

Individuals who are interested in learning more about Habitat for Humanity and volunteer opportunities can contact Jim Krinke, Project Manager at (608) 592-4858 or Eleanor Chiquoine, Executive Director at (608) 448-2888.

Completion of the home is set for early September 2012.
