From a technical background perspective we are Civil Engineers, with bachelors or masters degrees. Many of us have graduated from area Engineering Universities.
Our Technical Support Staff has two to four-year degrees in engineering technology, and surveying. The area technical colleges provide a solid training and educational base for the type of employee that meets our needs.
The University or Technical College Degree is a good foundation, but this is where your “Career” begins. You will begin your career working on a variety of projects involving planning design and coordination functions, field survey/data collection, staking and inspection work, Your normal week could include a mixture of office and field duties. Both the engineers and techs are expected to become proficient and productive in the latest version of AutoCAD, Land Development and other related CAD software platforms.
Whenever possible we prefer to have one engineer follow each project from planning through design and construction particularly on small projects.
Our field based technicians work with state of the art GPS and total station data collectors. We expect our engineering staff to become familiar with this equipment.
We understand that some engineers and technicians become acclimated to this career quicker than others. Our policy is to allow you to grow within the company and work into more responsible roles as you prove yourself through attention to detail, completion of work tasks in a timely manner and corporation with staff and clients.
Remember, the new GEC Staff engineers and technicians of previous years are today’s project managers, technical department heads, stockholders and corporate owners.
