PORTAGE, WI— General Engineering Company (GEC) added a new member to its staff, Gary Rogers, who will be serving as GEC’s Community & Economic Development Consultant.
Gary has over 30 years of experience as a City Administrator and formerly served as President of the Wisconsin City/County Management Association. Mr. Rogers brings a well-seasoned background of city management, economic development, capital improvement projects, and municipal budgeting to General Engineering Company.
Rogers earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Urban Planning and a Masters of Public Administration at Iowa State University. Over the years, Gary has been involved with a variety of cities and community development activities across the State of Wisconsin. He has utilized his budgeting expertise to assist numerous communities that were facing tough economic times. Gary has also managed and led economic development efforts successfully in multiple municipalities.
“I am looking forward to the challenges of working with local government officials, both elected and appointed staff. As a previous administrator, I am aware of the fiscal and legislative challenges facing today’s local government,” says Rogers. At GEC, Rogers will be assisting municipalities in the area of community & economic development, which ultimately can lead directly to community prosperity.
In addition to serving as a City Administrator, Gary previously taught courses at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and Nicolette College, where he was able to share his knack and understanding of public administration.
Gary and his wife reside in Waupun, WI, where he enjoys golfing and shooting sports. He and his wife have two children, a daughter and son. Rogers is a member of Military Officers Association, Reserve Officers Association, and the Optimists International.
